The Art of Gifting High-End Fragrances

The Art of Gifting High-End Fragrances

Perfume is not only a fragrance, but also a personal signature, a memory in a bottle, and individuality. When it comes to luxury gifting, there is nothing as tasteful as a top-notch fragrance. It can be a birthday, anniversary, or even a corporate event; an expensive perfume is a symbol that points to taste, intellect, and classic style.

Indeed, there exist such perfumes that are rare jewels, belonging to a collection virtually few yet so attractive that one could even call them collector pieces, which are simply designed to not only smell magnificent but also seem beautiful pieces of art.

Why Choose a Luxury Perfume as a Gift?

Luxury perfumes are made with the most precious ingredients in the world, literally picture a hand-picked rose in Grasse, some ambergris in the ocean, or sandalwood that was aged for decades. These fragrances smell long, complicated, and finely blended.

These perfumes are special not only because of the scent. It is their history (and the history of the art objects-bottles) and scarcity. Every time you give a perfume as such you are not only giving a smell to the senses, you are giving an experience.

Let’s take a look at the world’s most expensive perfumes ever made. These perfumes are not only known for their incredible scent profiles but also for their luxurious presentation and price tags.

  1. Golden Delicious by DKNY – $20,000 per ml

DKNY came up with a special version of its famous perfume called Golden Delicious at the cost of a million dollars. It was created together with the jewelry designer Martin Katz; the proceeds of its sale went to the charity Action Against Hunger.

What made it so expensive was the bottle; it was decked with almost 3,000 gemstones, and among the gems, it included diamonds, sapphires, rubies, as well as other rare ones. It was designed in the New York City skyline, and master jewelers spent more than 1,500 hours developing it. There was only a single bottle.

  1. Passant Guardant by Clive Christian – $7600 per ml

The world’s most expensive men’s cologne is the Clive Christian No. 1 Passant Guardant at the price of 228,000. It was produced to mark the opening of the brand store at Harrods. The bottle is crystal and coated with 24-carat gold and more than 2,000 hand-set sparkling diamonds, which also include pink and yellow diamonds. It is the only bottle that carries the crown of Queen Victoria. It has a lush mixture of citrus and floral fragrances of bergamot, mandarin, ylang-ylang, and spicy neroli.

  1. Opera Prima by Bvlgari – $3,133 per ml

The Bulgari Opera Prima was introduced in 2014 to commemorate the 130th anniversary of the brand, with its tradition of offering fine Italian jewelry and fragrance products. Perfumer Daniela Andrier has mixed fresh Mediterranean scents such as lemon and orange blossom into the scent.

The bottle itself is luxurious to the degree of the perfume; it was created by a glass designer, Venini, and ornamented with diamonds, amethysts, citrine stones, and gold. This was then resold to garner a record price of 235,000 dollars, and this is one of the most expensive preparations ever.

  1. J’adore L’Or Prestige Edition by Dior – $750 per ml

In 2016, Dior launched an exclusive 100 ml edition of its famous J Adore perfume, with new accents to mark the past of the cosmetic line and the fashion empire. The bottles were numbered individually and were refillable, but are no longer on sale.

  1. Shumukh by Nabeel – $500 per ml

The most luxurious perfume in the world is Shumukh by Nabeel, and it is worth about 1.29 million dollars one bottle. The fragrance company left no stone unturned to put the extraordinary perfume in the hands of a three-litre dazzling crystal bottle decorated using pure silver, 18-carat gold, and more than 3,571 jewels.

The perfume is a mixture of pure Indian agarwood, patchouli, incense, ylang-ylang, sandalwood, Turkish rose, and amber, among a couple of ingredients which the company declines to identify, took three years of research and approximately 500 tests to perfect.

It was formulated by the great perfumer of Dubai, Asghar Adam Ali, whose official launch was at the Burj Khalifa in the Armani Ballroom, which displayed the decadence of the perfume.

  1. Parfum VI by Gianni Vive Sulman – $445 per ml

Perfume VI by Gianni Vive Sulman is its luxurious fragrance, reputed as a sensual blend of jasmine, Grasse roses, and hidden natural elements. The crystal bottle is decorated with exotic wood, gold, and a rip-off stopper sprinkled with diamonds. It also has rubies and a gold-plated key to make it more elegant. Only 173 bottles were produced, and it became famous when some of it was bought by Michael Jackson when it was released in 1998.

  1. Majesté impériale by Clive Christian – $430 per ml

In 2006, Clive Christian launched a very exclusive perfume, named No.1 Majest (ex). It created 10 bottles, each filled with 500ml of pure perfume oil. They each came in a hand-cut crystal bottle, a collar made with 18-carat gold, with a five-carat diamond. Three bottles are retained by the brand, with seven bottles being sold to private collectors.

The fragrance is opulent and enduring, having precious threads of such high-end-sweet gems as sandalwood, vanilla, bergamot, mandarin, and ylang-ylang arranged in an elegant walnut box. It is one of the most valued works of Clive Christian.
